Richie Havens began the festival with “Minstrel From Gault Q”

There was an average wait of two hours
to make a phone call and on the first day alone
over 500,000 long distance calls made.

1,300 pounds of food brought in by helicopter.

Over 500,000 hamburgers and hot dogs
consumed on the first day of the festival.

The cost of:
hot dogs $1
acid and mescaline $4

Estimated number of concertgoers who ate the bad “brown acid”… 400

Wait time between acts ranged
from 40 minutes to 2 hours.

The stage was 80 feet wide.

Within 14 months of their performances at Woodstock, both Janis Joplin and
Jimi Hendrix would be dead.

 

18 doctors and 36 nurses treated a total of 6,000 patients.

33 people arrested on various drug offenses

Two births.

Three deaths.

A total of 80 lawsuits were filed after the concert.

17 miles of bumper to bumper traffic on the main road leading to the site

Initial hopes for attendance numbers were 60,000…
approximately 400,000 people attended the show…
another 250,000 never made it to the site.

Only 30,000 – 80 000 people stayed to watch
Jimi Hendrix’s closing set.
