A word from Jonathan Moorehead, vocalist with Blue Law
"In early 2003 it came to our attention that a bootleg of Blue Law's 1996 European Tour was circulating among collectors, blues enthusiasts, and Wishbone Ash fans. We decided to make this recording available to all Wishbone fans, so that they could enjoy the houserocking blues side of Andy Powell's considerable talent as a live
guitarslinger. We employed today's state-of-the-art digital re-mastering technology to squeeze out every drop of fidelity we could muster. We've made this double CD available at our cost. Our goal is not to make a profit, but to get the recording out there. It was an amazing show! Andy was in rare
form and the audience demanded so many encores that we ran out of material. So here it is, in true bootleg tradition, a record of a great night, featuring some blistering
guitar-work by Andy Powell. The double CD set is completely re-mastered and
repackaged with some rare photos, and seldom-heard tunes. We are now doing a second edition pressing to meet the continued demand. Many Boneheads want to obtain one and give as Christmas gifts!

About Blue Law
Blue Law is a Connecticut/New York based blues band who has the distinction of featuring the talents of none other than Wishbone Ash guitarist and mainstay Andy Powell. Blue Law
was formed by keyboardist Mike Mindel - a veteran Hudson Valley musician - in 1991, originally as The Snap. Mindel was soon joined by vocalist Jon Moorehead - an old friend. The Snap went through several personnel changes and eventually renamed themselves The Sure Thing. 1993 saw Wishbone Ash's Andy Powell enter the picture. Andy Powell found himself stepping in with the band for several dates, taking him back to his roots somewhat, since The Sugar Band (Andy's pre-Wishbone outfit) played a similar style of brassy R&B. The live work became more regular during a period when Wishbone Ash
was at a stopgap and between line-ups, keeping Andy from getting rusty while Wishbone
was off the road. Andy Powell said of Blue Law: "Together they were writing great songs. They're really great players as well, driven by love of the music." The Sure Thing was renamed Blue Law, and completed by bassist Al Payson, drummer Don Stroffolino, as well as a revolving rooster of brass players. With the line-up complete, the band recorded a demo tape. Once news of Andy Powell recording with another group reached the Wishbone Ash following, many of the band's fans were keen to hear the music of Andy's extra curricular project. As such, a limited cassette pressing of the demo sessions was released through the various branches of the Wishbone Ash Fan
Club to very positive reactions. By 1995, the success of the demo cassette eventually led to Wishbone Ash's then European concert agent Martin Looby signing the band to his label,
Hengest Records, as well as arranging European and UK concert appearances for Blue Law. The band headlined the Ghent
Blues Festival in Belgium and released their debut CD Gonna Gethcha. During a British tour in the Spring of 1996, Blue Law also made two BBC radio appearances, one featuring a guest appearance from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren - an artist Powell had long admired. Blue Law songs featuring Andy Powell have appeared on the soundtracks of many feature
films as well as in MTV's popular reality show "The Real World".
